Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also quiet and works while you are at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot cleaner robot vacuum for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes This robot vacuum mop cleaner robot and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score 100% in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and dry mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with how dirty they are.

If you have a bigger home, it is worth choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice command. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Finally the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot hoover and mop vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and Best Robot Hoover combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
