The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score 100% in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

The app also provides access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
